How many times do you check your phone each day? With these pretty primers you can unconsciously craft your character every time you unlock your phone.

Make your phone pretty and enjoy personal growth as side effect.

This is based on my studies for Certificate of Positive Psychology (CAPP).

What is a primer?

Primers are cues in our environment that prompt us to think or behave in a specific way. They can take many forms. A primer can be a word, a sound, a color, a smell, a situation, an image or even a person.

As much as 80% of our day’s activity is directed by our unthinking reactions to these cues Adams-Miller & Frisch, Creating Your Best Life

When it’s time to act, we follow the cue, even when we didn’t pay attention to it.

Based on a study by Shantz & Latham in 2009, a well selected primer can more than double your results.

Why not use our passwords, screensavers, lock-screens etc. as primers to help us reach our goals?

Change your iPhone lock screen, change yourself

These wallpapers include all 24 character strengths in the VIA Character Strength system.

You can take the survey in VIA Institute on Character to find out what your strengths are, but you do not need that to use the lock screens.

Just pick the strength that you’d like to improve and set it as your lock screen.

You could also set these as your iPhone wallpaper, but using them as lock screens work better as they appear when you interact with your phone. Even if your exact phone model isn’t listed, these images should work for most phone models.

Please note! In most iPhones, the phone puts the wallpaper in “perspective” mode first. Part of the image goes outside the screen. You need to zoom out the image with two fingers to make it fit perfectly.
